Cape May Point State Park
Looking for an outdoor alternative to the beach in Cape May? Look no further! Cape May Point State Park is the perfect spot to spend a day outdoors with your family. This protected area offers plenty of opportunities to explore, see wildlife, connect with nature and experience stunning views. Here, you’ll find creatures such as frogs, muskrats, birds and otters thriving in their natural habitat. Trails that guide you through wooded areas and along the beach are kid-friendly and simple to navigate. Plus, the famous Cape May Light House is located right here in the park.
Cape May Lighthouse
The Cape May Light House is a famous US landmark. Whether you trek up its 199 steps to the watch gallery or take photos from the ground, your family will enjoy spending time at one of the country’s most familiar lighthouses. The Cape May Lighthouse also offers a weekend story time. Bring young children to the Education Center (adjacent to the Cape May Lighthouse) and listen to nautical tales and lighthouse adventure stories. Story time is at 12:30pm every Saturday from May 26 to September 1.
Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum
The Naval Air Station Museum is a 10 out of 10 for families. Located at the Cape May Airport, the museum is situated inside the airport’s historic Hanger #1 for authenticity. It features endless exhibits, hands-on activities, and interactive displays for children of all ages. Visitors are invited to explore aviation in the WWII era, experiment with flight simulators, check out the Coast Guard exhibit, and sit in the cockpit of real aircraft. Several aircraft are on display including airplanes, helicopters and jet engines. Plus, educational camps, programs, and special events, are commonplace at the Aviation Museum all year long.
Nature Center of Cape May
The Nature Center of Cape May offers hands-on activities to promote environmental awareness and education for people of all ages. All year long, you can find a complete schedule of exciting programs such as Wetlands Wildlife Safari, Birding by Boat, Native Nature Sales, and much more. During any of these education tours, visitors will learn about marine life and migratory patterns of birds that frequent the area. These programs are part of how the Nature Center of Cape May keeps youth in touch with nature and the environment.
