The Huffington Post – a popular national news aggregator and blog dedicated to hard news, politics, entertainment and environmental news – named the Montreal Beach Resort as one of ‘7 Great Historic Upscale Lodgings in Northeast USA.’

The ‘7 Great Historic Upscale Lodgings’ – named in random order – were selected based on historic merit, level of service, and upscale accommodations.

The Huffington Post praised the Montreal Beach Resort for its historic 50-year back-story, which features the founder’s holocaust survivors, Harry and Sofia Hirsch.

The article explains, “Fifty years ago, holocaust survivors Harry and Sophie Hirsch, had the gumption and foresight to purchase this property in the sleepy residential town of Cape May, constructing a 27-room inn he named Montreal Beach Inn. As a family run hotel, the Montreal Beach has welcomed multi-generations back time and time again. Some families have been returning at the same time each year for over 30 years and it’s easy to see why. Located in the “quieter” part of Cape May, rooms are lovely, views of the Atlantic Ocean are terrific, and it’s just a 10-minute walk along a paved oceanfront promenade to downtown.”

“We are thrilled and honored to be recognized by the Huffington Post as a historically significant, must-visit resort,” said co-principal Larry Hirsch, Harry and Sophie’s son. “We’ve been part of the Cape May community for 50 years, and we’re committed to maintaining our long-time tradition of treating customers like they are members of our family,” he added.

In addition to the Huffington Post accolade, the Montreal Beach Resort owners were recently recognized with a 3G and Beyond Award by SNJ Business People (SNJBP). The award recognizes South Jersey area, third-generation (and beyond) family-owned businesses for their dedicated commitment to making South Jersey the best place to work, live and raise a family.

The Montreal Beach Resort is a true Cape May resort. Unlike any typical seaside experience, the resort stays true to its core value of treating customers like family – maintaining the family-friendly atmosphere upon which it was built, while keeping its amenities modern and appealing. Today, the Montreal Beach Resort is one of only a handful of hotels along the entire Jersey Shore to remain under the continuous management of one family.

The property, located directly across the street from the award-winning beaches of Cape May, features 70 well-appointed rooms, a large oceanfront pool and two panoramic sundecks, Harry’s Ocean Bar & Grille, The Montreal Beach Club and The Wine Cellar at Harry’s.
