Calling all birders! Kick-off the New Year with a birding extravaganza with CMBO Program Director Melissa Roach and CMBO naturalists. Spend New Year’s Day birding in Cape May County, exploring hidden corners and well-known locations, observing a range of avian habitats. Visit multiple locations and hotspots, including Cape May Point State Park and the Nature Conservancy’s South Cape May Meadows. Day schedule TBD to maximize birding opportunities, take advantage of weather conditions, tides, and recent bird sightings.
New Year’s Clean Up at Sunset Beach | January 2
Join AmeriCorp’s NJ Watershed Ambassador Program on Sunday, January 2 (10 am to 2 pm), for a community beach cleanup at Sunset Beach! It may be cool and brisk, but on clear days the sun will keep you warm and it’s lovely to spend a little time outdoors. Plus, if you’re lucky, you’ll find some great treasures! Items found in the past include Native American Artifacts, sea glass, fossils, and even a Megalodon tooth!
All supplies (gloves, pickers, bags, PPE) are provided. Please wear warm clothes and bring water and your willing friends and family!
